There is no gathering date indicated in the fieldbook, but different dates on herbarium specimens (see taxon details). On 1970-08-28 Rauh drove from Olmos (Lambayeque, Peru) to Jaén (Cajamarca, Peru), passing Pucará and collecting the type of Tillandsia hildae Rauh (Rauh 24319). He stayed for some days in the Jaén region until he moved via Bagua Grande (Amazonas, Peru) to Nazareth (Amazonas, Peru) on 1970-09-01. On 1970-09-10 he arrived at Ingenio (Utcubamba, Peru) via Bagua Grande. So it is most likely that this type material was collected at the end of August 1970 and not in September 1970, as indicated on the Holotype specimens. [CNS 2015-01-23]
