| Location comment (Entry): | According to fieldbook entry the gathering was made between Baños de Agua Santa (Provincia de Tungurahua) and Puyo (Provincia de Pastaza) at an altitude of 1500 msm. In the protologue Rauh indicates «near Puyo» as locality. Baños is situated at 1800 msm and Puyo at ca. 900 msm. On page HEIDRAUHFDB062_014 Rauh describes that he found a lot Pitcairnia spp. on this way from Baños to Puyo. He stopped at the Cascada El Pailón del Diablo (ca. 1500 msm), the only point where he stopped at the cited altitude. There are a lot of rock faces, like those described at habitat in the protologue. So it is most likely that thy original material was collected near these waterfalls. [CNS 2015-02-16] | |
